Hardship Policy

If you’d like help with your TRUenergy accounts, just ask.

At TRUenergy we understand that most people don’t have the luxury of an unlimited income. The need to gain greater control of your finances can arise for any number of reasons, or as a result of various circumstances.

If you’re in financial hardship and struggling to make payments on your TRUenergy bills, or you would like advice on how to make your home more energy-efficient to cut the size of your energy bills, we can help.

We have a dedicated team who will work with you to arrange a suitable plan, or look at some easy things you may be able to do to save on your energy bills. They will treat you with respect and take into consideration your particular circumstances.

Here are some of the services we provide to help our customers manage their energy accounts.  To find out more about any of these services and how we could assist you, just call us on 133 466 between 8am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday.

Need more time to pay?

Having more time to pay your account can make all the difference. We are happy to discuss extending the terms of your payments to see if that can help you manage your energy costs better.  Call us on 133 466 to make an arrangement.

Would a personalised installment plan help?

Our Easyway Budget Plan allows you to pay your energy accounts in regular affordable installments that can be designed to suit your particular circumstances.  The Flexi Plan offers complete flexibility, allowing you to make payments as you go, and then make up the difference when the bill is issued.  For further information, see our Payment Plans section.

Could you cut your energy costs?

We can provide advice on how to make your home more energy efficient which could significantly reduce your energy use, and in turn cut the size of your bills. Knowing what appliances cost to run is a good starting point for making good choices on the best way to save money.  We've included some further reading in our Energy Efficiency section.

Are you eligible for a State Government Utility Relief Grant?

If you meet certain criteria, you may be eligible for a State Government program that provides financial assistance to people experiencing difficulty paying their gas, electricity or water accounts.
