Once you’ve decided to take advantage of natural gas, there are a few things to do to make sure your natural gas works at its best for you. When you sign up with TRUenergy, the process couldn’t be easier. Here’s an explanation of what happens when you sign up for natural gas.
We can tell you if it’s possible to connect your property to natural gas. If it is, you can make an application with a TRUenergy New Connections Consultant to have a gas pipe line installed from the mains line to your house. Plus, you can find out about our great offers for both your new natural gas and electricity accounts.
We’ll ask you about the kinds of appliances you’ll be using once you’re connected to natural gas. This information will help us make sure the right sized pipe can be used to run between the mains line and your house. We’ll send this information to the distributor and arrange with them to install the pipe.
Now is a good time to either purchase appliances or get quotes to convert your existing appliances from LPG to natural gas. Ask your local plumber or appliance outlet for assistance.
Once the pipe has been installed (from the street to your house) you will see a 30cm pipe sticking up from the ground with a handle on the side. Now your house is ready for gas and all you need is the meter. Simply call us with your plumber’s Licence number and Certificate of Compliance. If you’re having appliances converted from LPG, it’s a good idea to have the meter delivered before you book the plumber to convert your appliances. Your plumber can connect the meter and convert your appliances at the same time so you can start enjoying your natural gas right away.
When your meter has arrived, your plumber will connect the meter to the pipe in the ground. Remember that your plumber is required by law to provide you with their Plumbers Licence number and Certificate of Compliance number as a guarantee of work done.
Now you can enjoy the advantages of natural gas in your home. For a safe and hassle free connection to natural gas, call TRUenergy on 1800 818 378 Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm (AEST).
