What happened to Jackgreen?
On the 18th of December 2009 Jackgreen was suspended from trading on the wholesale electricity market because it went into voluntary administration. This has resulted in Jackgreen being unable to meet the energy obligations of its customers.
Who is affected?
All Jackgreen customers.
Will my electricity be cut off?
No Jackgreen customers will have their electricity disconnected as a result of this event.
Why is my electricity now being supplied by another retailer?
In order to ensure that no customer’s electricity supply is disrupted, all existing Jackgreen customers have been automatically transferred to another energy retailer, known as a Retailer of Last Resort. In Victoria, the Victorian Government has designated three retailers, including TRUenergy, as Retailers of Last Resort.
What is a Retailer of Last Resort?
A Retailer of Last Resort is the energy retailer in your area that has been appointed by the Victorian Government to ensure electricity customers continue to receive electricity should their existing energy retailer fail.
I’ve received a Retailer of Last Resort Letter, what happens now?
The letter sent to you by your new energy retailer, being the Retailer of Last Resort, will explain the transfer process and the options that are available to you.
If TRUenergy sent you a ‘Retailer of Last Resort’ letter, your options include –
Who do I pay for the use of electricity?
If you were a Jackgreen customer, for any usage and billing occurring prior to 19 December 2009, you will need to contact Jackgreen or their administrator who should have further information on the process for handling unresolved customer billing and complaints.
If you were a Jackgreen customer and were transferred to TRUenergy as part of the Retailer of Last Resort process, as of 19 December 2009, you will be required to pay us for any usage from this date.
Why does TRUenergy charge me $65 administrative fee?
As a part of the transfer, ex-Jackgreen customers may be charged a one-off $65 administrative fee to cover the cost of the transfer, which will appear on their next bill. This fee has been set by the Essential Services Commission of Victoria, who are the energy regulator in Victoria.
