Moving house tips
We've put together some simple tips to help make your move that little bit easier.
- Fridges that are laid on their side or back while being moved should be left for 24 hours before plugged in and turned on to ensure the fridge coolant works properly.
- Before moving into an apartment, to save any unexpected hold ups, find out where the access bays are located, how to obtain a lift key if the apartment has a lift and if there are any set moving times of which you need to be aware.
- Not all home insurance policies will cover you when you move. Make sure you find out what you're covered for before you move.
- If you need to clean your place before moving out, make sure you request that your gas and electricity is disconnected after you are finished.
- To get your gas and electricity connected, make sure the meter is accessible and that the main switch is in the 'off' position before hand (some units may have two main switches).
- When you arrive at your new place, you can check that you gas is switched on, by checking that the meter lever is inline with the pipe (vertical).
- When using gas for the first time it could take a couple of minutes for it to reach your stove and hot water. If it's still not working after a few minutes then contact us on 133 466 for assistance.
Don't forget to take our checklist with you when moving. You can print it out and put it on your fridge.
