What is the new Annual Electricity Concession and does the Winter Energy Concession still apply?
The Victorian Government's Annual Electricity Concession replaces the Winter Energy Concession (for electricity only) and came into effect on 1 March 2011. It provides eligible Victorian concession card holders with a 17.5 per cent rebate on every electricity bill. As the application of this year round electricity concession requires a change to our billing system, eligible concession card holders who receive a bill between 1 March and May 2011 will not have the concession rebate applied to their account. However, we will add an adjustment on the first bill these accountholders receive after May 2011. The adjustment will be backdated to 1 March 2011 to ensure that full rebate entitlement is paid.
Please note that the Winter Energy Concession will only provide a discount of 17.5 per cent off gas bills, for the period 1st May to 31st October (inclusive).
Information about the new concession can be found on the concessions website www.dhs.vic.gov.au/concessions
